On September 23, 2015, Kentucky Baptist Fellowship joined with Simmons College of Kentucky and several Louisville churches to form "Empower West Louisville," a faith-based initiative to promote economic development in Louisville's West End. Formed out of a conversation between KBF's 2014-2015 Interim Coordinator, Chris Sanders, and KBF pastors Chris Caldwell (Broadway), Kevin Cosby (St. Stephen and Simmons College President), Jason Crosby (Crescent Hill), and Joe Phelps (Highland), Empower West seeks to unite faith communities across racial and denominational lines to affect sustainable, transformational development in West Louisville.
