Pre-Build Day #1: "Floor Joists & Stray Pups"

Kentucky Baptist Fellowship Family,

It's June, so that means it's time for the ninth annual KBF Extreme Build, which kicked off today with the pre-build expert team getting structures in place for the full-blown Extreme Build next week.

Kimberly Stephens is excited about her new home and is very thankful for the good work our volunteers will accomplish over the next 10 days as we partner together to help Ms. Stephens become a home owner!

Experienced volunteers from around the state poured in this morning to help place the floor joists and begin installing the sub floor.

Because life (and ministry) are rarely simple, as I was getting ready to leave the hotel for the build site, the housekeeper asked me to watch a stray puppy since she'd already taken in too many stray cats. Because I'm a sucker for anything small and helpless, I did.

After a trip to the local grocery for supplies, I gave the little girl a flea bath and some food, and may have even found her a daddy in David Buckner, down for the Pre-Build with his father, Leonard Buckner of Buechel Park Baptist Church in Louisville. David is the former youth minister at Westport Road Baptist Church in Louisville and now coordinates the Iron Man competition in Louisville. He was last seen cuddling her, helping her drink some water off of a plate, and affectionately calling her Brutus. Here's hoping David and Brutus have many great runs together!

Blessings from McCreary County,
