Sara Clarke Turpin, chair of the KBF Ministries Work Group which administers the annual KBF scholarship, announced the 2014-2015 KBF Scholar at the KY state meeting of the CBF General Assembly. Jeremy Shannon, a current student at the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky and Student Pastor at Cynthiana Baptist Church, received this year's honor.

Shannon grew up at Grace Baptist Church in Lexington and is a graduate of Georgetown College. He is married to Jenni.

Shannon stated, "As a Christian minister, it is my calling and duty to help other people discover how their vocation can be used to further the Kingdom of God. As a Christian minister, I serve as a representative of Christ to the community."

While some today might claim that younger ministers don't see the value of denominations, Shannon counters, "I have always been fascinated by the work of denominations and the benefits that churches can have in working together."

The KBF Theological Scholarship is awarded annually to a student at Baptist Seminary of KY or another CBF partnering theological school.
