by Bob Fox,
KBF Moderator & Pastor, Faith Baptist, Georgetown
It is with great pleasure that I can inform you that the search committee for the new coordinator of the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship has been named. We have waited to form this committee until the staffing committee reported on their work. Our transition plan, passed at our last Spring Gathering, gave specific guidance on the formation of this important group.
Four persons were automatically placed on the committee. First, I will serve being the current moderator. Don McFadden, a lay person from First Baptist, Winchester, serves because he is the chair of the Administrative Work Group. Sara Clarke Turpin, Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Buechel Park Baptist Church, Louisville, takes her place as she is the chair of the Ministries Work Group. The final person serving due to position is Mark Howell, Missions Minister at First Baptist, Frankfort, who is the chair of the Missions Work Group.
The KBF Coordinating Council selected representatives from each region. Zach Bay, pastor of First Baptist, Middlesboro, will represent the eastern portion of the state. Susan Reed, Associate Pastor of Broadway Baptist Church, Louisville, was chosen from the central region. The western part of the state will be represented by Kimbrough Simmons, pastor of Masonville Baptist Church.
Two at-large positions were appointed by Tara Edwards as past-moderator. Ron Williams, a lay person from Third Baptist Church, Owensboro, will fill one of these slots. Jolene Lord, a lay persons from First Baptist Church, Bowling Green, is the committee’s remaining member.
I am excited about the prospect of working with these outstanding Kentucky Baptists. Please pray for us as we begin the important work of searching for our new leader of KBF.
