CBF Responds: Flooding & Tornadoes in TX

by Tommy Deal, CBF Disaster Response Director

The Memorial Day weekend ended with deadly floods and tornadoes in Central Texas.  Wimberly, Texas between San Antonio and Austin appears to have taken the brunt of the toll.  However, many areas, including Metropolitan Houston has received a deluge of rain, and thus flooding.

CBFResponds (aka CBF Disaster Response) is in touch with the Coordinators of CBF of Texas and CBF of Oklahoma, as well as our faithful partners through the North American Baptist Fellowship Disaster Response Network (mainly Texas Baptist Men and Texas Baptist Disaster Response) offering our assistance as they direct.  Each of these is in the process of ascertaining what areas have been affected, what the immediate and long-term needs are, and what churches are doing which we may come alongside and help.

At this point, we are certain money is needed.  Please give to CBF Disaster Response Fund (17000) by donating on-line, http://www.cbf.net/give-now/.  Be sure to check “Disaster Response.”  Or, you may choose to send a check payable to CBF, and memo line “Disaster Response-17000,” to CBF, P.O. Box 101699, Atlanta, GA 30392.

Please, do not self-deploy, nor collect items to send/deliver that have not been asked for.  Our partners on the ground will know what is needed and will let us know.  Thank you!
