Minister of Youth (part-time)

The First Baptist Church is a family-oriented church in the historic district in Middletown, Kentucky (an eastern suburb of Louisville). The church plays a vital role in the community through school and civic participation, mission projects, and volunteerism. The Senior Pastor is Dr. Jim Cobban and the church has one other full-time minister, Rev. Leslie Halfacre.
FBCM is seeking a permanent part-time youth minister to reach out to students from the sixth through twelfth grades. The position is designed for a maximum of fifteen hours per week and focuses primarily on Wednesday evenings and Sundays. Other events may be planned by the youth minister in coordination with the youth parents’ committee.
We are looking for someone who is mature spiritually, is a self-starter, understands modern teenage culture and use of technology, and who has a heart for teenagers and a calling from the Lord. You will be working as part of a team of ministers and laity who aren’t afraid of creativity and ingenuity. Though we are a smaller church, we are deeply committed to raising the next generation of Christian leaders by providing the best discipleship and evangelism ministries we can.
We partner with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and CBFKy for missions. We affirm the call of both men and women to every level of Christian service, including the ministry. A seminary education is not required but is helpful. Current seminary or college students are welcome to apply. Prior ordination or license is not required.

This individual is expected to: be gifted in leading congregational worship, possess leadership and organizational skills, and be a team player. This individual does not have to lead a choir. The ability to lead with guitar or other instrument is a plus, but not required. This individual will report to the Senior Pastor and work with the Associate Pastor and Ministry Assistant in worship planning.
