Associate Pastor for Youth and Children - full-time

First Baptist Church in Winchester Kentucky is seeking a full time Associate Pastor of Youth and Children. This person will provide leadership and oversee a ministry program that includes age-appropriate mission activities, retreats, Bible studies, and other events including Vacation Bible School. The pastor should be able to develop new youth and children’s ministry activities while continuing to implement and foster established programs. The pastor will be the communicative leader for teachers, youth, children, and parents, and would be specifically responsible for duties in the following areas: 1. Leadership with Youth Ministry a. Plan, coordinate, and evaluate the youth ministries of the church. b. Lead in planning and implementing special age group activities and programs appropriate for the spiritual growth of youth and their families including retreats, conferences, meetings, camps, fellowships, banquets, mission activities, and recreational activities. c. Oversee youth Sunday School classes and Wednesday night activities, coordinate programs and literature with Sunday school teachers and other leaders. 2. Leadership with Children’s Ministry a. Provide spiritual direction and administrative oversight for the children’s ministry of the church. b. Support and equip lay leaders as they minister to infants and children on Sunday and Wednesday night activities. c. Plan and host special events throughout the year to further inspire and equip children for service. 3. Leadership with Families of Youth and Children a. Equip, engage, and empower parents to continue the faith formation process in the home. b. Give thoughtful consideration as how to prepare for and celebrate important milestones in the lives of our children, students, and their families (birth, baptism, graduation, etc.). c. Plan and host special events throughout the year to connect parents and foster community among children, youth, and their families. d. Provide resources and activities for families that allow families to engage in mission and service opportunities together. e. Provide pastoral care for youth, children, and their families in a safe and appropriate manner. 4. Pastoral Care a. Lead in a regular program of visitation and support for children, youth, and their families. b. Provide care and support in crisis situations for children, youth, and their families. c. Maintain personal relationships with children, youth, and their families in all phases of ministry. d. Maintain confidentiality, courtesy, and politeness while executing all church responsibilities. 5. Administration a. Oversee the organization, procedures, equipment, and facilities related to children/youth ministries. b. Assist in the enlistment, training, and guidance of leaders. c. Assist in annual budget planning and administration. d. Prepare and submit a monthly report for regular deacon meetings. e. Attend deacon meetings and provide updates on youth and children’s ministries as requested. Additional Responsibilities: The associate pastor may have the following secondary responsibilities: substitute in the pulpit if needed, be on call on the weekend, and perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.
