Music Intern/Pianist (part-time)

Buechel Park Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking a part-time (15-20 hours a week) Music Intern/Pianist. The Music Intern/Pianist will have the opportunity to explore music ministry within the context of the local church. This program will engage in contextual practice and opportunities to explore their unique calling and vocational goals in music leadership by means of worship, and congregational leadership. The internship will begin September 1 and end June 1. The Music Intern/Pianist is a will serve as the pianist for Sunday worship services, assist the Minister of Music, church staff and congregation in weekly worship services, children’s music programs and adult music programs.
Buechel Park requirements for the position are: a Christian, committed to Christ and the church as the Body of Christ, who reflects an authentic commitment to Christ; a respect and appreciation for the Baptist expression of faith, although this individual does not need to be Baptist; an ability to work and serve well with others; an ability to manage time, complete assignments, and initiate new ideas and tasks; a willingness to ask questions, seek leadership, take risks and learn; an individual who senses a call to ministry and desires a place to follow and explore calling.
His/Her duties and responsibilities will be to: meet with worship staff at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings; assist in the maintaining and development of children’s music programs; be available for all special services such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, etc.; meet regularly with the worship planning team; provide service music for each service on a rotating basis with organist scheduled by Music Director; participate in choral and instrumental groups; be able to play hymns for the congregation.; notify Senior Pastor or other events that require you to not be available.

Worship Leader (part-time)

The responsibilities will include: planning and leading our weekly Sunday 8:30am traditional worship service; choosing and leading congregational hymns and songs that engage the congregation and support the reading and preaching of God’s Word; planning and leading our weekly Sunday 10:45am contemporary worship service; choosing contemporary Christian worship songs that engage the congregation and support the reading and preaching of God’s Word, assisting in planning, implementing and leading worship for special events outside of Sunday morning worship services; leading weekly rehearsals during our Sunday school hour (9:45am); modeling and leading heartfelt worship in an invitational style – that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus; and, recruiting, auditioning, teaching, and training musicians in the church to serve on our Praise Band. This individual will schedule musicians and singers using the Planning Center software.
This individual is expected to: be gifted in leading congregational worship, possess leadership and organizational skills, and be a team player. This individual does not have to lead a choir. The ability to lead with guitar or other instrument is a plus, but not required. This individual will report to the Senior Pastor and work with the Associate Pastor and Ministry Assistant in worship planning.
